Stair climbers are commonly used by delivery companies who are required to transport heavy items up flights of stairs. This means that they are required to operate on third party premises.
With Health and Safety policies now becoming ever more stringent, the operator will need to prove that they are safe to use. A LOLER 1998 and PUWER 1998 certification provides the necessary evidence for this.
Examinations must take place annually or more frequently if necessary. You will receive a notification by email a few weeks before the new re-certification is due.
A LOLER 1998 Certification is a set of regulations that applies to lifting equipment, which, is used at work.
LOLER requires that all equipment used for lifting is fit for purpose, appropriate for the task and suitably marked.
The PUWER 1998 Certification is another set of regulations, which, unlike LOLER, applies to all manual handling equipment.
Some of the regulations that PUWER 1998 covers, includes ensuring equipment is suitable for intended use, safe for use, maintained in a safe condition as well as ensuring it is correctly installed.
